Owls Head Mountain View Community Connection fosters a sense of place and enriches the quality of life of families, friends, and visitors. At our Community Center we plan, fund, and offer four-season programs and activities to increase community vitality, provide opportunities for social connections, and encourage life-long-learning and well-being in a safe, easily-accessible location, close to home.

Our Accomplishments for 2025!

Highlights of Community Center Activities:

  • We established a partnership with the American Red Cross, officially designating the Center as an emergency shelter for the Northern New York region and currently the only emergency shelter in the Town of Bellmont.

  • We developed and adopted new policies to include Financial Policy, Board & Advisor Selection Policies, Tobacco Policy, DEI Policy, and Anti-Nepotism Policy.

  • We held a Memorial Day Celebration honoring and remembering those who died serving in the United States military and who remain MIAs and POWs. We respectfully replaced our aging American flag, POW/MIA flag, and NY State Flag.  All three flags were Donated by Danny Kaifetz, American Heroes flagpoles.

  • We held our third annual Good Ole 4th of July, a celebration of community traditions and Independence Day values and kids-friendly event.

  • We held a 6-week free workshop this past summer hosted by The Heartnetwork.org, where participants discovered and learned a range of strategies to enhance personal health and well-being.  We are exploring our options to partner with them and become a Delivery Organization.  Current board member Ellie Wall has received Peer Leader Training to enhance this opportunity.

  • We made connections with three other sponsors: Community Engagement Coordinator for Commercial Tabacco Use Reduction Network, Snap Ed Nutrition Coordinator from Cornell Coop Extension, and Alzheimer Association of Northern New York and are planning future educational sessions by these organizations.

  • We had our anniversary celebration which focused on recognition of all our volunteers excluding board members and advisors.  Our top volunteer for 2025 was community resident Linda Abare.

  • We implemented a database tracking system for tracking volunteer hours and events participation.  We had a total of 2,837 volunteer hours at a value of $108,320.48 while hosting 45 events with a total of 1965 participants for 2025.

  • We received Nonmonetary donations to include a Snow Blower valued at $1500.00 from Danny Kaifetz, American Heroes flagpoles and a new HP Officejet Business printer for printing, scanning, copying at a value of $270.00 from a current board member.
